This week, it’s my 11 year anniversary of a commitment to Love!
I find it helpful to look back at healing milestones in life and remember how they came about.
Reverse engineer the keys to your own evolution!
In my journey, a major turning point happened in grade 9 (at age 13).
Then another key shift in direction came in my mid-20’s (age 26).
Then 11 years ago THIS week (at age 31), I received a new life of joy, freedom and friends!!
So in this week’s video, I share the story of how I went from “F-you” to “I love you”…
(As you can see, there is a wee bit of swearing in this one.)
Transcript:
11 years ago THIS week, something really profound happened to me and my entire life changed.
But let me trace the story back to grade 2.
In grade 2, my teachers complained that I was too talkative and too boisterous.
Then in grade 7, my teachers complained that I was too quiet and not participating.
Then in grade 9, I was bold, outgoing and very active!
I was doing several acts in the school’s big talent show.
I was doing “Church Lady” impressions (from Saturday Night Live) on the morning announcements.
I was composing & performing a song in the drama production.
I won the school’s snow sculpture contest by leading my class to make a beautiful unicorn!
And I helped make a giant dragon puppet for the parade…
In fact, my school came up with a special creativity award to give me at the end of the year!
It was like my own Renaissance Period where my creativity and energy flourished…
And the previous years were like my Dark Ages!
To my teachers and my classmates, it might have seemed like I was a totally different person!
But that’s not what happened – I didn’t change my personality or my identity – I had changed my perspective!!
You see, in grade 7, I didn’t feel wanted by Humanity or the Universe so I didn’t feel welcome to share my voice, my ideas or my energy.
Every single day, I felt like nobody wanted me around so that was why I wasn’t participating or speaking up.
This quiet and unenthusiastic demeanor might have LOOKED like part of my personality but it was actually caused by my perception that nobody wanted to hear, see or be with me.
Finally, in grade 9, I said “fuck it” and I started pursuing my passions despite feeling still unwanted by society.
But my anger continued to grow inside. My temper was explosive when it was triggered and I often wanted to punch people!
So this violent dark edge might have LOOKED like part of my personality but it was actually caused by my perception of the hatred and injustice in the world.
Though I valued love, I had little faith in the love of people and the love of the Universe.
As a result (surprise surprise), I had very few friends and I repeatedly experienced the dark side of Humanity.
Thankfully in my mid-20’s, I started to revisit my view of the world.
I wanted to believe in something better because believing in the worst was not my heart’s true desire, it was just my experience up to that point.
So I spent many years looking deeper into my own heart and into the heart of Humanity.
11 years ago THIS week, I finally aligned every bone in my spiritual spine like a spiritual chiropractic healing and established a loving worldview.
After 6 years of intense inner work, I had gone from “fuck you” to “I love you”.
And it all fell together when I made the commitment to really love myself AND Humanity.
Now, I keep meeting wonderful people everywhere I go. And I keep experiencing and witnessing so much generosity and beauty.
It’s not because the world had changed a lot or that I had changed.
I was the same person but I’d found a more compassionate perspective which allowed a different reality to emerge.
So it’s not a change in personality that we need – it’s a change in our perspective.
Finding more loving outlooks can alleviate self-sabotage, indecision and lack of motivation.
Every time you go from “fuck you” to “I love you”, you are healing the planet.
